Weather: Tues 12/31 & Weds 1/1

FROM NWS Wakefield

Monday, December 30, 2019

A split upper level flow keeps most of the active weather early this week across the northern states while high pressure dominates the south. Surface high pressure along the Gulf Coast states Tuesday, will slowly slide east to a position along, and then off the Southeast Atlantic coast by late Thursday.

Models also show a (dry) lee trough east of the Appalachian mountains on Tuesday / Wednesday, which results in gusty west winds at times during the day.

The result is that the forecast area will see a dry period for the New Year holiday.

Expect mostly sunny conditions both Tuesday and Wednesday along with
fair nights, although some scattered clouds may linger across the lower Maryland Eastern Shore Tuesday morning.

Highs Tuesday: 55°-60°.
Lows Tuesday night: low-mid 30s.
Highs Wednesday 50°-55°.
Lows Wednesday night 30°-35°, except upper 30s in the southeastern coastal areas.
