Since the majority of Currituck County commutes to Virginia, weekend days are very convenient for voting.

Sunday is a specifically Christian Day of worship while other faiths, such as Judaism, and some Christian denominations worship on Saturday. A government entity such as a local Board of Elections should not recognize regilous days as a matter of separation of church and state. Who’s religion would you follow? Would the Board of Elections shut down for other reglious holidays such as Ramadan or only Christian holy days?

There is ample time for most everyone to get to the Currituck BOE office to vote without having Sunday One-Stop Early Voting, especially with the extended hours until 730 pm on M-F.

I think voting should be made convenient for everyone. It’s the only day some people might be able to go. I attend church on Sunday and after that I do whatever I need or want to do. Everything from watching football, going out in the boat to catching up on laundry. Why would anyone object to Sunday voting? Some attend worship services on Saturday and some don’t attend a church at all.

All voting should take place on days that the schools are closed if we are going to continue to use the schools as polling places and the idea of commuters being able to cast their vote without having to worry about being late for work or leaving early is brilliant.
