On Thursday, June 19, 2025, a tragic pedestrian accident in Currituck County, North Carolina, claimed the life of an 18-year-old man with special needs. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on NC Highway 168 near Commerce Road in Moyock.
A somber incident in Currituck County, North Carolina, has led to the death of Alexander, a 5-year-old wild stallion, part of the "critically endangered" Corolla wild horse herd. The tragedy occurred on the beach in the early hours of Saturday, June 14, 2025, when Alexander was struck and killed by a vehicle.

On April 25, 2025, a traffic stop conducted by a Currituck County Sheriff's Office Patrol Corporal on a Nissan Altima on Highway 158 near the Rest Area in Aydlett, North Carolina, led to the arrest of three individuals on various drug charges.
The stop, initiated due to a traffic violation, resulted in a search of the vehicle. Deputies seized approximately 237 grams of cocaine, along with other controlled narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
