The following information has been compiled from candidate speeches, information provided by the candidates, Currituck County Tax Records, Currituck County Register of Deeds filings, NC Secretary of State corporations database and candidate business websites (where available).

The information represents businesses in which the candidates have a controlling influence, as their principal registered agent or officer.

Denise HallIncumbent

Denise Hall – of Moyock – is a retired 911 dispatch supervisor with the City of Norfolk. She currently serves as the Currituck County Register of Deeds, first elected in 2012 and re-elected in 2016. Hall operates a canine rescue, breeding and showing Irish Setters

Hall’s husband Mike is former At Large Currituck Commissioner and a retired investigator with the City of Norfolk Police Department.

A search of the NC Secretary of State Business database and Register of Deeds filings did not indicate any controlling interests in outside businesses.

Christy McCordChallenger

Christy McCord’s (of Moyock) online bio she is a retired mortgage officer with Towne Mortgage; however the Quality Homes of Currituck (QHOC) website still lists her on it’s financial information page. QHOC is owned by Justin Old of Moyock.

A current billboard on northbound Caratoke Highway / NC 168, between Tulls Creek Road and Dozier Road also advertises McCord as a mortgage agent with Towne Mortgage. The billboard is a primary advertisement for H. Kim Old, real estate agent from Moyock.

McCord owns / operates Sweetpea Designs, 391 Caratoke Hwy, Moyock, NC. According to the business Facebook page, services include gifts, monogramming and apparel.

A search of the NC Secretary of State Business database and Register of Deeds filings indicate a controlling interests in the following businesses:

All Pro Processing LLC – Status: Dissolved; Formed 6/23/2009
Principal offices at former address of 221 Eagle Creek Rd., Moyock, NC 27958 – McCords former residence.

Infusion Property Management, LLC – Status: Active; Formed 1/8/2020
Principal Offices are listed at 119 Brumsey Landing Dr., Moyock, NC 27958 – McCord’s current residence

McCord’s husband Kevin McCord is currently At Large Currituck Commissioner, first elected in 2018; employed as Currituck County Sheriff Sergeant; and owner/operater of McCord’s Landscaping in Moyock.

According to the NC Secretary of State Business database , McCord is the registered agent for:

Grandy Golf Club, LLC – Status: Dissolved; Formed Oct 2012
This company was associated with the former golf course in Grandy which has since been developed into a Solar Farm.

Mary “Kitty” EtheridgeIncumbent

Candidate Etheridge, of Shawboro, is currently At Large Currituck Commissioner, first elected in 2016. She is retired as the former Currituck County Director of Elections. Etheridge’s husband Fred is retired and farms collards, sweet corn and sweet potatoes in Shawboro.

A search of the NC Secretary of State Business database did not indicate any controlling interests in outside businesses by Etheridge or her spouse.

Daryl Lee HoodChallenger

Daryl Lee Hood of Grandy is a self employed carpenter / builder.

Fred D. Whiteman, Jr.Challenger

Fred Whiteman of Moyock, served 24 years in the US Navy, according to his campaigns Facebook page. Whiteman has not responded to repeated requests for information on current vocation / business association.

Selina JarvisIncumbent

Jarvis, of Harbinger, is a retired civics teacher, and current District 2 County Commissioner – appointed to fill the seat in January 2019. Her husband Steve is a retired NC Wildlife resources officer.

A search of the NC Secretary of State Business database did not indicate any controlling interests in outside businesses.

Steven CraddockChallenger

Craddock, of Grandy, is a real estate appraiser and electrical contractor. Craddock’s spouse, Tina is a professor at Elizabeth City State University.

A search of the NC Secretary of State Business database indicates that Craddock is the registered agent for the following businesses:

Principal offices are listed as: 102 Hickory Hill Dr., Grandy, NC 27939 – Craddocks residence

According to the business website, services offered include Real Estate & Personal property appraisal in North Carolina and Virginia, expert forensic appraisals, expert witness testimony, and continuing education provider.

NC Secretary of state records also show Craddock as registered agent of:

According to Craddock, “(the business entity) is, at this point, an idea for a nationwide appraiser organization. I was the President of NCPAC.US which is a NC Appraiser Organization. I thought at some point NCPAC could expand. The name is just sitting there now.” The domain name uspac.us redirects to the ncpac.us website for The North Carolina Professional Appraisers Coalition.

Paul BeaumontIncumbent

Beaumont of Shawboro is owner/operator of Rapid Response Logistics, a private consulting company. According to Beaumont, the company does Department of Defense Logistics support, program management, construction project management, and drone support.

His wife, Christine manages the household.

A search of the NC Secretary of State Business database indicates that Beaumont is the registered agent for the following businesses:

Stuart InnesChallenger

Innes, whose statement of residence on campaign filings is 125 Womack Dr, Currituck has indicated in campaign presentations that he is a criminal justice / law teacher at a university. According to zoominfo.com, Innes is associated with ECPI as program director.

A search of the NC Secretary of State Business database indicates that Innes is the registered agent for the following businesses:

Davis Street Holdings,LLC – Status: Active; Formed: formed 3/30/15
Pacific Beach Company, LLC – Status: Active; Formed 10/6/05
Pacific Beach Construction, LLC – Status: Active; Formed 5/4/07

All three show principal offices at 136 Pats Way, Barco, NC 27917 – the residence of Innes’ father.

Innes’ business, Davis Street Holdings, LLC owns a 15 acre parcel on South Mills road in Moyock. According to Board of Adjustment records, Innes purchased the parcel in 2015. Minutes relate that Innes had planned to devlop the property into 7 lots, through conservation reservation. In June of 2016, the Currituck County Board of Commissioners amended the county UDO (UNified Development Ordinance) to increase lot size, lower density and remove performance guarantee. Under the new UDO, Innes could only get 5 lots from the parcel.

Subsequently, the parcel was the subject of a variance request in Currituck County Board of Adjustment case BOA-17-04 which was heard on April 13, 2017. In the filing, Innes sought increased density on from 5 lots to 7 lots.

The variance was granted; however, subsequently it was determined by the Board of Commissioners / County Attorney, that the Board of Adjustments did not have the authority to grant the variance increasing density. The County of Currituck threatened to file suit against the Board of Adjustments. Innes never developed, but still owns the parcel.
