Shawboro, NC – Robert Jennings Benton, 87, of 889 Shawboro Road, Shawboro, NC died peacefully Friday, December 13, 2019 in his home. He was born March 20, 1932 in Pasquotank County to the late Robert Elisha Benton and Ruby Jennings Benton. He was a graduate of Weeksville High School in Pasquotank County. He tended the family farm all of his life and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by a daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Harrison (Roy), of Shawboro, NC; two grandchildren, Leaha Odom (Pete) and Alex Harrison (Brittanie); and two great grandchildren, Merrill Odom and Weston Odom. The family would like to thank Albemarle Hospice staff Amber, Heather, and Nicole and a special thanks to Etta Jordan and Dr. Neil Denunzio.
A funeral service will be held Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jason Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in West Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the home of Roy and Katherine Harrison, 889 Shawboro Road, Shawboro, NC.
